The Reverend Noah H. Evans, our Rector and pastor, has been with Grace Church since March 2008. Ordained in 2004, previously, Noah served as the Associate Rector of St. Anne's in the Fields Episcopal Church in Lincoln Massachusetts. Noah is a graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis and The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church. Noah lives in West Medford, with his wife, the Reverend Sara Irwin, who is the Pastor of Christ Episcopal Church in Waltham. Their daughter Adah was born in 2009 and their son Isaiah was born in 2007. Noah loves cooking, his local CSA farm, current events and politics, movies and television and teaching the bible. Noah was one of the founders of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts Young Adult Internship Program, and serves on the boards of Episcopal City Mission and the Barbara C. Ruth Roper, our Minister of Music, has worked in Congregational (UCC), Unitarian Universalist, MCC, and American Baptist churches, and was Coordinator of Music and Worship Programs at the Harvard Divinity School, where she received her Masters of Theological Studies. Her undergraduate degree from SUNY Binghamton was in Music History and Performance, studying organ, piano, flute, and choral conducting. She has directed or accompanied numerous vocalists and choral ensembles around the Boston area over the past decades, most notably the lively, popular 250+ voice Mystic Chorale. She has a personal interest in music by women, in revising the language of traditional sacred music to include all people ("inclusive language"), and is a passionate hymn-lover, always eager to share musical, historical, and poetic notes to draw the choir and congregation into the magic of this incredible body of song. James Liberge, our Director of Education and Formation has been at Grace since October of 2010. He directs and coordinates all of Grace Church's Wednesday and Sunday children and youth programs. James previously worked for 5 years in special education and specialized in severe behavioral management. James is a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Memorial Episcopal Church in Lynn where he previously taught Sunday School and ran their Kids in Community Summer Camp program. He is a graduate of Suffolk University where he majored in European History with a double minor in Religious Studies and Philosophy. While attending Suffolk he was a DJ for their online radio station and the captain of the boys cross-country team. Rachael Pettengill, our Lay Associate for Student Ministry, has been with us since September 2009. She is a postulant to Holy Orders by the Diocese of Massachusetts. She is also the new Protestant Chaplain at Tufts University. Rachael is a graduate of Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack New York. During seminary she joined the Episcopal Church and was confirmed at Grace Church Nyack in the Spring of 2008. She originally grew up in Haverhill MA and after living in NY for nine years she moved back to the Boston area to serve with the Diomass Life Together Internship program and Grace Medford. She currently lives in Medford where she is not only in walking distance to Tufts, but also to the Danish Pastry House which she frequents. Stephen Trever, our Lay Associate for Adult Formation, is a postulant to Holy Orders by the Diocese of Massachusetts. He coordinates our adult education programs. He holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of West Florida and an M.Div from Yale University. While pursuing his Divinity degree he also lived and worked with the Zen Buddhist community in New Haven, fulfilling his supervised ministry requirement by teaching meditation to Yale undergraduates. He is deeply passionate about interfaith and interreligious dialogue as well as the intersection of science and spirituality. When not immersed in prayer or theological reflection he enjoys playing bass in a wide variety of musical contexts. He has recently begun to find the joy of cooking and is looking for good (but not too difficult) vegetarian recipes. He lives in Natick with his wife, Lisa, and his dog, Ginger. Carol Koskelowski, our Parish Administrator, can be reached at Kayanna Scott-Brown, our GraceWorks Director, was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. As a child her mother kept her involved in dance. After dancing in a company for many years, she decided to begin teaching creative movement, jazz, tap African and hip- hop to children ages 3-12. It was then that she decided to pursue a career working with children and families. A graduate from Wheelock College in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Theatre Art and a certificate in Human Services she is a EEC certified in infant/toddler, preschool and director II. She has taught and directed programs in a childcare center and a public school. When not working she enjoys spending time with her two children and family, taking dance classes, going for walks and shopping.
